CFO
As CFO, you will be a strategic partner to the CEO and board, responsible for shaping UnaWork’s financial architecture, unlocking growth capital and building the finance function from the ground up. You will lead fundraising efforts (equity, convertible notes, venture rounds), establish scalable financial operations, and ensure our financial discipline enables rapid growth and long-term sustainability. Given our stage and growth ambition, the compensation model for the first 12 months will be equity-based, subject to defined fundraising milestones. Upon successful capital raise and milestone achievement, the role transitions to a salaried executive position with benefits. Key Responsibilities * Fundraising & Investor Relations * Lead the design and execution of our capital-raising strategy: investor targeting, pitch-deck development, financial modelling, due diligence readiness. * Establish and maintain relationships with venture capital firms, angel investors, strategic partners and other financing sources. * Negotiate term sheets, structure investment deals, and support legal/financial oversight of financing transactions. * Serve as investor liaison: report on financial performance, manage Board and investor communications, oversee investor updates and governance metrics. * Financial Strategy & Operations * Develop rolling financial models (3- to 5-year horizon), budgeting frameworks, scenario planning and key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to growth and capital deployment. * Manage cash-flow, runway, burn rate, unit economics and working capital in a high-growth, startup environment. * Build the finance and accounting infrastructure: select and implement systems, define internal controls, ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. * Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration * Act as a member of the leadership team, contributing financial insight to business strategy, product development, go-to-market execution and operational planning. * Build, coach and lead the finance organization (or outsource partners) as the business scales. * Partner with other executive functions (Operations, Product, Sales & Marketing) to align financial planning with business goals and growth initiatives. Qualifications &-Focus * Proven track record (ideally 8-15 + years) in senior finance leadership, preferably within a startup, VC-backed, high-growth company environment. * Demonstrable experience in raising institutional capital (venture, growth equity, convertible debt) and driving investor engagement & term negotiation. * Strong strategic mindset, financial modelling / forecasting skills, deep understanding of startup economics (CAC, LTV, burn, runway). * Excellent communication skills — able to articulate complex financial concepts clearly to Board members, investors and non-finance executives. * Expertise in building scalable finance functions, implementing systems, establishing governance and controls. * Preferably: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related; CPA, CFA or MBA a plus. * Entrepreneurial spirit, hands-on orientation, comfortable in ambiguity and ready to “roll up sleeves” in a fast-moving startup. Compensation Model (First 12 Months) By taking this role, we will offer 2% equity with a 4 year vesting and 1 year cliff. Equity will change to a full-time salary after successful completion of our fundraising goal (expected within the 1st year). Bonus for taking on an equity only role first will also be considered upon successful completion. Equity is contingent upon achieving agreed-upon fundraising milestones; if milestones are not met within the specified period, the equity arrangement will terminate. Upon successful fundraising and milestone delivery, the role will transition to a full-time compensated executive position with salary, benefits and ongoing equity participation. Participation in leadership bonus and future equity rounds will be considered based on performance and company growth.
